Compear Global Education Network's Climate Justice Plan

Introduction At Compear Global Education Network, our mission to foster a more equitable world encompasses our commitment to climate justice. We recognize the profound impact that climate change has on the most vulnerable populations worldwide and understand that addressing these challenges is integral to our goals of equity and inclusivity. Inspired by our founder, Christina 'Chris' Thompson's pioneering work in innovative educational training and diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are dedicated to integrating climate justice into the core of our Global Respectful Disruption Summit.

Our Commitment to Climate Justice Aligning with the principles of the CANIE Accord, Compear commits to embedding climate justice into our strategic vision by:

    • Digital Resources: Providing all summit materials digitally to eliminate paper waste and reduce our carbon footprint.

  2. Advancing Educational Goals:

    • Climate Literacy: Incorporating disruptive climate justice themes into summit discussions, aiming to educate and mobilize our network around global sustainability and responsible practices.

    • Actionable Learning: Facilitating workshops that equip participants with tools to implement climate justice initiatives within their communities and organizations.

  3. Community and Collaboration:

    • Partnerships for Impact: Strengthening collaborations with organizations that focus on sustainability to bring diverse perspectives and expertise to our summit discussions.

    • Community-Led Solutions: Encouraging community-led sessions at the summit to highlight local climate justice initiatives and learn from grassroots movements.

  4. Operational Sustainability:

    • Green Policies: Implementing sustainable practices in our day-to-day operations, such as reducing energy consumption in our offices and opting for sustainable procurement choices.

    • Emissions Accountability: Setting a baseline for our carbon emissions and establishing clear, ambitious targets for reduction, consistent with global standards.

  5. Policy Advocacy and Leadership:

    • Influence and Advocacy: Using our platform to advocate for policies that prioritize climate justice both locally and globally, ensuring that our advocacy aligns with our educational mission.

    • Leadership in Climate Discussions: Actively participating in international dialogues on climate action, contributing our insights and learning from global best practices.

Implementation Strategy To ensure the success of our Climate Justice Plan, we will:

  • Assign Responsibilities: Designate a Climate Justice Officer within Compear to oversee the implementation of this plan and ensure integration with our broader mission.

  • Monitor Progress: Regularly review our strategies and practices against set benchmarks and adjust as necessary to stay on track with our climate goals.

  • Engage Stakeholders: Maintain transparent communication with our network, including participants, partners, and the broader community, to gather feedback and foster a collaborative environment for continuous improvement.

Compear aims not only to discuss but actively contribute to a more sustainable and just global community. Our Climate Justice Plan is a testament to our belief that education and understanding are vital in fostering an environment where diversity and equity include sustainable and climate-conscious practices. By integrating these elements into our summit, we strive to inspire and equip our network to take meaningful action towards a more sustainable and equitable future.

"Respectful disruption in climate justice means uniting diverse voices in a shared struggle, not enforcing uniformity but embracing our differences to forge a just, sustainable future together."
